Reiki is a method of healing, developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century, which is activated by intention. Reiki is taught through a lineage system starting with Mikao the founder. It works every level, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
The Japanese word Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is defined by the two words Rei meaning ‘spiritual’ and Ki meaning ‘energy’. This ‘Ki’ energy when flowing freely through the body will produce a state of balance and wellbeing. When Ki is restricted, due to many stresses of illness and emotional imbalance the energy flow is weakened and can result in poor health and a weaker state of being.
The purpose of Reiki is to encourage the body to heal in its own way, return to its natural balance and restore homeostasis.
Reiki is a very gentle and non invasive treatment with the client fully clothed and the therapists hands are placed gently on the body in various positions for 5 to 10 minutes each. Reiki can also be applied without touch a couple of inches away from the body. Reiki complements and supports you and your life and works well alongside other types of healthcare.
Healing works to the highest good and has a positive impact on all conditions whether physical or emotional. It is very powerful and one session is enough to make a difference although regular sessions are encouraged to give constant support and effectiveness.
You do not have to have a specific belief system to have healing, only the desire to have a better sense of health and well-being.
